Day 142 - Preparations for the Trent Severn Waterway

We woke to the sound and shadow of someone on the boat!  It was the boatyard owner checking on a noise on the boat.  We had told him we weren’t sure if we would get back Friday or Saturday due to the airline fiasco.  A neighbor had heard a pump running on our boat and was concerned so the marina owner came over to check on what was going on.

Speaking of noises, Captain Randy figured out where our fresh water leak was coming from – in the waterline to the ice maker!  He pulled out the freezer and found the broken plastic line.  Since I fit into the space better, I clamped off the hose and Voila! No more leaks and no more water in the bilge.

Our breakfast was granola bars and coffee since that’s all we had.  It was cloudy outside, but no rain.  We borrowed the courtesy car again to run errands and get groceries.  We shopped at Wegmans, a super nice grocery store with lots of specialty items, local produce and good prices.  There were lots of staff members around to answer questions and they had plenty of lanes open when it came time to check out.  I highly recommend it if you are ever in this area.

After shopping we had some lunch and then Captain Randy did some boat maintenance and I cleaned up and worked on the blog.  The sun came out around 3:00 pm and it appeared that the threat of rain was gone.  We borrowed the courtesy car again for dinner, ending up at the Clam Bar in Syracuse.  We had Cajun scallops for an appetizer, followed by pasta with seafood.  The Clam Bar didn’t have
Meyer’s Rum, but at least it had Captain Morgan.

Feeling content from a much needed dinner, we decided to fill the gas tank.  Oops, Captain Randy ran over a small curb at the entrance to the gas station and the front driver’s side tire was flat.  Out with the jack and the spare and we were soon on our way again.  I hope we have better luck tomorrow on the water than we have had in the air and on the road these last 2 days!!!  Enough of planes and cars!
