At 8:15 am each day there is a radio
broadcast in the Abacos that gives the weather forecast, wave conditions, community
announcements, invitations, arrivals to the area, and departures. We haven’t always been able to hear much of
it clearly, but we picked up most of it that day. Captain Randy checked in and announced Kristin Says as a new arrival and that
we were from Chicago, doing the Great Loop.
The shows are recorded and can be heard at Cruisers.net.
It was very warm and the winds were calm
when we walked over to Nippers for the pig roast. On the way, there is a tree marked "poison wood, don't touch" but we're not sure why. There was a good crowd with a variety of
ages, families, couples, and singles. The buffet included barbecued pork, roast
pork, macaroni and cheese, corn, cole slaw, peas and rice, bread pudding, and
pineapple. We ate more than we should
have and enjoyed it all.
After the pig roast, we waded into the
surf and thought about snorkeling but heard that the close coral was dead and
you had to go out pretty far to see live coral and fish. It was further than we wanted to go, so after
a walk we went back to the boat.
That evening we had snacks and drinks at
the marina restaurant and again watched the sunset. The wind had picked back up and the boat was
rocking and rolling until midnight or so, when the wind died down again. We watched The Life of Pi on our Direct TV and felt like we were in the life
raft as we rode the waves in the harbor.
