Day 69 - Juno Beach - One More Art Fair - Time to Activate Our Float Plan to the Bahamas!

We had been in Florida 3 days, waiting for the seas to calm down enough for us to make it across the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas.  Captain Randy had been watching weather and wave sites, and decided it looked safe enough for us to cross on Monday, the next day.  Not that we hadn’t enjoyed ourselves, but we were really looking forward to getting back on the water and to the Bahamas.  Captain Randy had our float plan that had to be filed our float plan with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, but we could not activate it until we were within 24 hours of leaving.  He pulled the trigger on that and our plan was to leave in the morning at 8am.

Earlier, we had returned our rental car and went with Betsy to the Juno Beach Art Fair.  By now we were recognizing a number of the vendors from previous fairs.  This one is right off the Atlantic, a very nice setting.  It was another gorgeous day and it took some hunting to find a parking spot.  We ended up in a $10 lot that was only a couple of blocks away.  Our only purchase was a small humorous fishing print for friends of ours, the Carons, back in Chicago.   They host a homemade pasta party on the last Saturday in March every year for their fishing friends, which we always attend.  Betsy still gets an invitation although she has not been able to attend for years since she is now living in Florida.  We sent the print and a picture of our boats at the dock with our regrets (boo hoo).

We spent the rest of the afternoon tinkering and cleaning up the boat, in anticipation of leaving the next day.  Betsy put together a feast on the grill for us that night and we sat around her table talking waves, weather, boats, and fishing.  Captain Randy hopes to catch a dinner or two for us in the islands.  We can’t wait!!
