Day 9 - Randy's Family Reunion

Today was Randy’s family reunion.  His sister, Maria, picked us up and drove us to the festivities at Randy’s Uncle Tony’s home in Granite City, IL.  We stopped at a local grocery store, Schnuck’s, to get some crab dip and crackers for the day and stock up on some groceries for the boat.
At the family reunion, there were about 60 people, lots of kids under 12 who had a fun time playing together, outside and in the house when it began to rain in the afternoon.

Uncle Tony’s son-in-law, Tim, grilled in the heat for the group – what a great job!

Just as Tim was finishing grilling the food, it began to rain - heavily.

This is a picture of Captain Randy using a broom to keep the rain from pooling on the tarp that was put up to protect everyone from the heat of the sun.  He learned this skill on the awning in front of the Diversey Yacht Club.

Despite the rain, everyone had a good time.  there was plenty of good food and good times for all.
We invited anyone who wanted to join us for a cruise down the river to Kimmswick, MO, the next day.  There were about a dozen who wanted to go and we asked them to be at Alton Marina by 9 AM to make the trip.
